Is It SAFE?
Has Puradigm been tested to show it is safe?
Yes. Puradigm has done extensive testing with Kansas State
University (KSU) to alleviate any safety concerns. The testing
included a GCMS report (gold standard to show any
byproducts) which showed no safety concerns. KSU also tested
the technology in a small chamber to artificially concentrate the
byproducts and again it showed no concerns. KSU issued safety
certificates for all Puradigm products.
Is Puradigm Technology a PCO (Photo-Catalysitic
Oxidation) product?
No. Puradigm uses, what on the outside might look similar, a
PCO cell but the internal process is very different. PCO works
passively, by implementing the pathogens that pass in or near
the cell. Puradigm works actively by creating a cloud of High
Energy Clusters that fill the room and attack any pathogen in
the air and on surfaces. PCO has no effect on surface bound
bacteria (where 90%+ of the bioburden exists).g
Does Puradigm have the same problem as PCO by
increasing formaldehyde?
No. Again the Puradigm technology works very differently than
PCO. Puradigm has been shown to reduce formaldehyde. PCO
units that increase formaldehyde are large volume flow units,
averaging 500 m3/hr and above and are tested in a closed loop
system. Puradigm units run on average at 50 m3/hr and have
never shown formaldehyde increases.
Many PCO products use ozone to kill bacteria does
Puradigm produce ozone??
Puradigm is not an ozone generator. As noted PCO Is a
passive technology with no effect on surfaces where the largest
bioburden exists. As a result, some manufacturers use ozone to
increase their effectiveness. However, ozone is only effective at
levels much higher than the safe limits (OSHA: 100 ppb, EPA:
75 ppb, FDA: 50 ppb). Puradigm uses High Energy Clusters to
attack pathogens and utilizes ozone to create these clusters.
Puradigm technology actually breaks down ozone into oxygen
ions where little are no ozone escapes. In laboratory trials, in a
small chamber, 1.2m x 0.6m x 0.6m, ozone levels were below
30 ppb, well below safe limits. In real world environments
ozone is undetectable.
Does Puradigm produce Hydrogen Peroxide? Is it safe?
Puradigm does create some hydrogen peroxide as part of the
process but again it’s a very low concentration. The highest
level recorded in an artificially small space 0.44m3 was 550 ppb
well below the OSHA limit of 1000 ppb and the CDC limit of
75,000 ppb.
Is UV light a concern with Puradigm?
No. All of Puradigm products are designed to have zero UV
leakage. Testing has shown 0 mW/cm2 on the outside of the
product. UV is used to create the High Energy clusters but is
contained with the product. If you are servicing the product
ensure it is turned off.
The EPA started to look at PCO manufacturers using
nanoparticles?
Puradigm does not use any nanoparticles. The trade secret 6
metal coating powders used to coat the cell are microparticles
and larger. They are also tightly bound to the cell and cannot
escape. Some PCO manufacturers have started to use
nanoparticles to improve their technology. Puradigm doesn’t
need to do this, we produce 100 times more High Energy
cluster than any other PCO by utilizing the patented specular
reflection.
